Welcome to the BarbSpontaneous Website
Are you ready for 2022 World Finals?
Coaches, you did a great job training your teams. Kudos to you! Teams, you outdid yourselves in competition. So, onward and upward. Practice , practice, practice during this tournament year. But most of all, enjoy the spontaneous all around you. Keep up the great work.
So, let's get started......
As a former Spontaneous State Problem Captain, I am here to help you, as a coach, work with your team. Many times a new coach will be so worried about their team completing the long term problem, spontaneous gets placed on the "back burner." This is a big mistake. Every point in a competition counts. The winner is often decided by a few points. Spontaneous counts for 100 points in the competition and it generally makes or breaks a team when it comes to winning. The more competitive your team is in spontaneous, the better their chances are of placing well in the competition. If I could give you three words that would help you with your team, they would be: practice, practice, practice.

General Information
- Read the Program Guide.
- All team members participate in any given problem on competition day. (Explanation in "Tips.")
- Begin and end every team meeting with spontaneous practice.
- Problems are designated: Verbal, Verbal Hands-on, Hands-on. Practice all of them equally.
- Do not allow team members to criticize another team member's answer.
- Make practice fun.
- No one except the team enters the spontaneous competition room.
- Discuss with your team the importance of not disclosing the problem to anyone (even you, the coach). If another team overhears your team discussing the problem - this gives them an advantage when entering the competition room and they will definitely outscore your team. Please, do not write about the problem in social media. Other counties may be competing after yours.
